This song is the epitome of how there are certain musicians that are passionate about what they do.

1. Grease - John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John - You’re The One That I Want

Grease is a film that stars John Travolta (Danny Zuko) and Olivia Newton-John (Sandy Olsson). The film was released in theaters in 1978. During summer vacation in 1958, Danny and Sandy meet on a beach and fall in love. Sandy is supposed to return to Australia, but her family changes their mind about leaving for Australia. Sandy ends up going to school at Rydell High School as a foreign exchange student and befriends Didi Conn (Frenchy). Frenchy is the leader of The Pink Ladies and Danny is the leader of The T-Birds. Danny and Sandy tell both of their school friend gang about how they met each other.

The Pink Ladies then seek out Danny and try to reunite him with Sandy. Danny tries to protect his image as a cool guy and rejects Sandy’s preppiness. Later, Danny apologizes to Sandy and then makes a move on her. Sandy thinks that Danny is trying to move way too fast and leaves him.

Danny then changes his image to be more preppy in order to get Sandy back. But later he finds out that Sandy is dressed similar to him. “You’re The One I Want” was the closing song of Grease.

The song was a major international hit reaching #1 in many countries. The song was remixed and covered by many bands. The song was #1 in Australia, Canada, Europe, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the U.S. in 1978. This is what makes this song #1 on this list.

what the hell is the theme of this list?? ‘hottest’ could mean a few different things i guess- sexy songs, spicy dance songs, or just badass hip hop beat songs, etc… But this list has completely random songs that would never in any way better categorized together. dude you dont have to make a list that tallies up to forty f*n one spots, make it a little more particular. and i HAVE to say that the 1 song that should be on this list is not- ‘Take my breath away’ from Top Gun. geez, try again there sport

I have to agree with brent. I believe by “hottest” they mean the most popular and even then they got it wrong.

    A) City of Angels - Iris by Goo Goo Dolls, that song was written SPECIFICALLY for that movie and was jipped from being on the billboard chart because “a single was never released”. when it did it still made it in the top 10 (#9 even) which is beyond good.

whats more impressive about Iris is its staying power. Not only was it a great song when it came out, but it STILL gets radio air time, as opposed to alanis’ song which never gets air time…

    B) take my breath away was DEFINITELY the song everyone remembers from Top Gun, Danger Zone was good, but you can’t hear take my breath away w/o thinking top gun.
